The specific objectives of RAIZ’s forestry research program are:

  • Productivity increase of the Eucalyptus forest
  • To implement sustainable forest management practices
  • To decrease the cost of wood
In a long term perspective that assures sustainable genetic, environmental and economic gains.

  • Genetics (Quantitative and Molecular)
  • Forestry protection (Plagues and Diseases)
  • Biotechnology (in vitro culture, Molecular biology)
  • Biometry
  • Statistics
  • Information technologies
  • Bioenergy cultures

This results in RAIZ being able to:

  • Perform soil and plant analyses
  • Perform molecular analyses (non-coding and genic markers)
  • Produce improved vegetal material
  • Produce natural enemies for E. globulus plagues
  • Diffuse information
  • Contribute to the establishment of a forestry information system
